Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Since 2005
What is your primary product or service?
Custom Formal Dress Making, Bridal Dress Alterations, Bridal Corset Making, Dressmaking Classes, Vintage Bridal Dress Restoration
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I had to get my Master's in order to become a dressmaker. A professional dressmaker = fashion engineer. First of all, I have to have excellent knowledge in math, geometry, mechanical drafting, freehand drawing, design, color, fabrics, human anatomy, and everything else is later.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I do not know other businesses in my category. Do they make bridal dress corsets from scratch too? If yes, I want to hear from them.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Just one in Rockville, MD. No plans to expand.
Provide detailed directions to your location
I work from my home studio in Rockville, MD, and that is enough space to meet a client and make or alter a dress.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash or PayPal only
Which areas do you service?
Maryland, Washington DC, and North Virginia.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Myself only
What are your hours of operation?
Every day.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"Thank you" is good enough.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” —Theodore Roosevelt.
