How long have you been in business?
We started Liquid Adventures in 2003. I have been instructing and leading trips since the '70s.
What is your primary product or service?
We teach basic whitewater kayaking on the Potomac River near DC, and lead more advanced trips to West Virginia, Canada and Mexico.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
After competing in area races and exploring rivers with friends, I have been teaching youth and adults how to kayak for 40 years. I started instructing for two family operated summer camps leading white water kayak river trips to West Virginia, Canada and Mexico.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We offer lessons and trips at all levels of kayaking - beginner, intermediate and advanced. You can learn to paddle on the Potomac and then progress to running the nearby rivers. We offer workouts in a kayak to build strength, moving water skills, and endurance.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have a single office location, but we hold classes at a great variety of locations on the various rivers.

We accept checks, cash and credit cards for payment.
Which areas do you service?
Our students come from across the MD, DC, and VA Metro area. Some come from across the US and join us for trips or lessons.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Liquid Adventures is owned by Thomas McEwan, while Ashley McEwan, Tom's daughter, runs the daily operations.
What are your hours of operation?
Our office hours are 10 AM - 6 PM Monday - Friday except Tuesday and Thursday 10 AM - 4:30 PM.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The best compliment we can receive is in a student telling us that he or she love the outdoors and the rivers, and sees the sport of kayaking as an opportunity to lead a more healthy and active life-style.
