How long have you been in business?
The Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM) was formed in 1956 as a conference for leaders of religious congregations and institutes in the United States.
What is your primary product or service?
The primary goal is to support leaders and provide them with the resources necessary to be effective leaders.
Second, the Conference strives to promote the dialogue and collaboration among the leaders of religious institutes and with the Catholic Church and society;
Finally, CMSM provides a corporate influence and voice for male religious leaders through its national and regional structures.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM) was organized at the request of Pope Pius XII who, in l950, urged religious around the world to come together in national associations.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) shares our building. LCWR is the association of the leaders of congregations of Catholic women religious in the United States. The conference's members represent more than 90 percent of the 59,000 women religious in the United States.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
The national headquarters of CMSM is located in Silver Spring, Maryland. There are no subsidiary offices, but members are grouped into six geographic regions that hold meetings regularly.
